CAPE TOWN – INSPIRATIONAL Zimbabweans plying their trades in Cape Town in neighbouring South Africa have been honoured at a glittering ceremony.

The Zimbabweans have been honoured under the auspices of the inaugural Cape Town-Zimbabwe Business Excellence Awards 2015 at an event held amid pomp and fanfare at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Godfrey Madanhire of Dreamworld Promotions scooped the Business Person of the Year award while Business Organisation of the Year went to Moreboys Munetsi of Zororo-Phumlani.

Tinashe Chaterera of Cape Wolves Football Club won the Sport Personality of the year, Edmore Mazungunye of Mother Love Educare & Marinatha Home of the Elderly walked away with the Community Leader of the year.

The Entertainment Personality of the Year Award went to Albert Zanganembo of DJ Bashmouth with Frank Mushakavanhu being chosen Newsleader of the Year.

Boniface Mugobogobo, the Zimbabwe Consular General for Cape Town, who was the guest of honour, congratulated the winners for being worthy ambassadors.

Hordes of Zimbabweans in Cape Town came in their numbers to support their own and celebrate the success of their fellow compatriots.

Shamstone Production and Entertainment sponsored the colourful event where Director of Cape Town Tourism, Jonathan Jacobs, was among notable Cape Town business leaders in attendance.

In his speech, Mugobogobo urged Zimbabweans in Cape Town and Western Cape, the province, to continue with a culture of success in order to contribute to the development of the city while on the other hand flying the Zimbabwean flag high.

Mugobogobo said the awards would remain a source of inspiration to many Zimbabweans, including South Africans yet to do business.

Julius Shamu, who owns Shamstone Production and Entertainment, which coordinated the event, is also the Director of the Cape Town Zimbabwe Excellence Awards.

He is also a former Director of Miss Zimbabwe Cape Town 2013 and has several other business ventures.

Some of the events he has hosted included the 2013 Miss Zimbabwe Cape Town, the 2014 Family Day Independence Celebrations as well as the 2014 Women’s Day Celebrations.

Former Big Brother Africa celebrity and businesswoman, Pokello Nare, meanwhile, was the programme director.
