Former Nigeria oil boss changes tune in fraud probe

ABUJA, (CAJ News) – BELEAGURED former Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Andrew Yakubu, has been remanded in custody until next week.
He appeared at the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, on a six count charge bordering on non disclosure of assets, money laundering and advance fee fraud.
Aerlier, the former oil chief was charged by the anti-graft Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he admitted owning more than $9,8 million cash found in a house that allegedly belongs to him in the Kaduna State.
However, on Thrusday, he pleaded not guilty to the charge filed by the EFCC.
The former oil industry executive has been remanded at the Kuje Prison pending ruling on his bail application.
The trial resumes on Tuesday next week.
