Kenya arrests trio for fake forex dealings

dollarsNAIROBI, (CAJ News) – KENYAN police have arrested three men, including two foreign nations, in possession of KSh1 billion (R142,5 million) in foreign currencies.

The two suspects from Chad and their Kenyan driver were arrested in the affluent Westlands suburb in the capital Nairobi.

The arrest of Chadians, Abdoulaye Tamba and Abdalla Tamba, and driver Anthony Mwangangi was part of an ongoing crackdown n illegal immigrants in the East African country.

Police said the fake money in United States dollar and Euro currencies was used to defraud unsuspecting Kenyans of their cash.

The arrest of the trio followed a tip off by members of the public.

Following the breakthrough, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has urged victims to report such cases to law enforcers.
