ADDIS ABABA – ALL 149 passengers aboard Ethiopian Airlines died on the spot when the jet crashed shortly after take-off on Sunday from Addis Ababa en-route to Nairobi, Kenya.

The flight ET302 had 149 passengers with eight member crew when disaster struck.

Information made available to CAJ News Africa’s Ethiopian Bureau revealed that out of 149 deceased persons, 32 were Kenyans, 18 Canadians, eight Americans and seven British nationals were among the passengers killed on the plane crash.

However, Ethiopian Airlines Group chief executive officer Tewolde Gebremariam, said he would not speculate on the cause of the deadly accident.

“At this stage, we cannot rule out anything. We cannot also attribute the cause (of accident) to anything because we will have to comply with the international regulation to wait for the investigation,” Gebremariam told journalists at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa.

The Ethiopian Airlines jet crashed minutes it departed the capital Addis Ababa at 08:38 (local time) killing all the 149 passengers and eight crew aboard.
