New ICT architecture for South African ISPs
JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – HUAWEI has introduced its leading information and communications technology (ICT) solutions to South African internet service providers (ISPs).
This would enable them support local enterprises.
It is the first time the solutions are introduced.
The solutions have been introduced at the iWeek conference in Durban, also the first time the South African annual internet industry conference was held in the Kwa-Zulu Natal Province.
“We are committed in partnering with ISPs in South Africa to help enterprises achieve their goals of digital upgrade with agility and intelligence at the core,” said Charlin Zhao, ISP Solutions Director for the Huawei Enterprise Business Group.
Zhao said Huawei recognised the challenges brought by the internet industry and firmly believed comprehensive “cloudification” was the most effective method and technical support currently available for enterprises to achieve digital transformation.
“The Huawei ISP solutions portfolio is not a one product compromise, but an end-to-end solution for ISPs in the cloud era,” the executive said.
Huawei currently provides solutions to more than 600 ISPs and data centre service providers around the world.
In the Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) market, Huawei implemented the industry’s first smart aggregation Optical Line Terminal (OLT) with a distributed architecture that supports ultra-broadband and smart capabilities – all on one fibre network.
The architecture is capable of supporting Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (G-PON), XG-PON (10 Gigabit), NG-PON (40 Gigabit) and 100G-PON on one unified platform.
In the telecom sector, Huawei successfully launched the All-in-One Box Internet Protocol Contact Centre (IPCC) solution which provides a single platform that supports voice, firewall, IPS and router functions, as well as Gigabit Ethernet (GE)/3G/LTE/DSL uplinks.
The platform has also successfully saved up to 80 percent in operating expenditure (OPEX) and allows for remote management of services.
