JOHANNESBURG – TAPPING into opportunities in North Africa is to feature prominently in the growth strategy for Centre for African Journalists (CAJ) News, the continent’s premier news agency, in 2018.

The Pan African news organisation has outlined its growth strategy for the coming year amid dwindling media opportunities globally.

Despite the recession, CAJ News Africa has attained successes in East, Southern and West Africa regional blocs.

Savious-Parker Kwinika, CAJ News Africa Chief Executive Officer and Editor-In-Chief, said the news agency had secured markets in North Africa, mainly in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt where it boasts correspondents.

“I’m humbled that the continent is beginning to believe in own news agencies as we are witnessing dramatic increase in appetite of the news content covered by our award winning journalists across Africa,” Kwinika said.

He welcomed the endorsement by North Africa, attributing it to the agency’s credibility and accurate news that is fair and balanced.

“Had it not been for the acceptance and wide support CAJ News Africa is receiving from renowned mainstream media in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Germany, America and Pakistan, our expansion strategy would not have been possible.”

Kwinika said technology would be the main focus in 2018 as the news CAJ News Africa seeks to consolidate its pole position as Africa’s most preferred news agency.

The news agency covered global technology conferences in Barcelona, Spain as well as in Orlando, Florida in the United States in 2017.

“We are happy that all our journalists in 44 African countries now understand our vision of embracing technology. The most interesting development is that multi international technology companies have endorsed CAJ News Africa, including major banks operating in the continent,” Kwinika said.

CAJ News Africa was in 2017, for the second year running chosen as the news agency of the year by the US-based Hope Africa, affiliated to the United Nations.

“As the most dependable, tried and tested Pan African news agency, we promise to continue providing quality news copy that addresses challenges and successes of our continent.

“We shall continue accelerating pace in becoming the continent’s most preferred news agency of choice,” Kwinika concluded.
