Beauty queen expresses solidarity with Nigerian orphans

Queen Nana MohammadABUJA – MORE than 50 orphaned children in Nigeria are to benefit from a pledge of donations and support by a local beauty queen.

Queen Nana Mohammad, the Face of Arewa – North Central in the Arewa 2018 contest in Abuja made the donation to the Hope Survival Orphanage at Gishiri.

She pledged her desire to actualise school fees and common entrance payments, availability of books as well as purchase van and bus for secured convenience and non-medical transportation.

Mohammad also pledged to mobilise celebrities and politicians to support the orphanage.

“Most homes are in a deplorable dilapidated condition,” she said.

Mohammad urged government to provide adequate accommodation for the orphans and make the place habitable and comfortable.

“When such are done in a structure like this, measurable outcome is inevitable,” the model added.

The Hope Survival Orphanage was established over 16 years ago.

Cephas Thaddeus, orphanage administrator, said most of the children under his care came in through the social welfare unit under the Ministry of Women Affairs.

The biggest problem faced by the minors is around payment of school fees payment.

The children are in nursery, primary to secondary schools.

The charitable Mohammad also pledged her commitment to support people living with disabilities.

“As we journey together a school of developmental disability will be established, which will signify my dream come true,” she said.
